Our story

A slate that teaches. A book that talks. Paper that sees your writing.

We believe every child in India deserves a teacher who asks before they answer. Dvani builds the hardware that makes that true on a desk, in the language the child thinks in.

Making AI useful in everyday activities.
AI can explain, interpret and respond. Dvani builds the devices and software that make those capabilities useful through familiar activities: reading a printed book, writing in a notebook, learning with a slate. We are starting with learning and interactive books, because each gives the technology a specific purpose and a physical form people can pick up.
✍️

Paper first

Students write by hand on a real notebook. The slate reads the page. Nothing to log into, nothing to scroll.

❓

Guidance before the answer

When a student is stuck, being asked what they think is happening teaches more than being handed the working. Not every exchange is a question — asking for a straight explanation gets one.

🗣️

In their language

The voice that teaches should be the one a child thinks in. English and Hindi first; we will name each further language as it is tested rather than listing a number.

From a classroom in Bengaluru

Learning is where we chose to start because it combines all four things we are trying to make work together: handwritten work, a spoken question, listening, and a visual explanation. It gives us a concrete place to develop and test the approach rather than a general one. Interactive books are a second use of the same foundation, across courses, stories and family memories.

That is our reasoning for the sequence, not a claim that the market or the learning outcomes have been validated.

Instead of building another app that needs a smartphone and fast internet, we designed a slate on electronic paper and a notebook it can read — and, later, a printed book that reads itself. Ekalavya is named after the self-taught archer of the Mahabharata; Saarathi after the narrator who described a battlefield to a king who could not see it. Our products are the narrator, not the gift of sight.

Working prototypes

Functional Ekalavya and Saarathi prototypes, founder-reported. The slate's voice interaction and the Smart Album's authoring can both be tried in a browser from Try Dvani.

Shipping starts Q1 2027

The date every product is being built to, and the one the product pages carry. It is a commitment we have made publicly, not a unit in a customer’s hands — nothing has shipped yet.

Two letters of intent

From two schools. That is interest, not a completed pilot and not a deployment, and we will name the schools only with their permission.

Parent research

Interviews with several hundred parents. Research that shaped the product, not a measured outcome.

The intended commercial model, plainly: devices sold to customers; product-specific subscriptions; printed books and courses; school programmes; and a creator marketplace we are now inviting the first partners into. Marketplace fees and unit economics are still to be validated, and there is no recurring revenue or creator sale to report yet.
